How to be most prepared for our first session

Preparation means success

iReady data

Ask your child's teacher to send a snap shot of their most recent iReady Diagnostic. This will highlight areas to focus on.

Writing samples

Try to bring any graded work I can look at to determine a jumping off point and understand the work that is being completed.

Share your concerns

Please come with an empty composition notebook, pencil and eraser.

Feel free to also bring any school work that needs to be finished as well!

What to expect after each session

First Session: Initial Assessments

Based on age and ability, I will most likely be using the Qualitative Reading Inventory to assess their knowledge and ability to read words in isolation (in a list) or in context (in leveled stories). This will also tell me whether your child is stronger at fiction or non-fiction reading.

I will create and share a data driven slide show with you about that will outline what we did in each session. You can view it at your convenience. This will give you an idea of:
